Programs and Services That Empower

In our communities, acts like human trafficking, sexual assault, and domestic violence are unfortunately more prevalent than many realize, unfolding right in our own neighborhoods and affecting individuals we know and care about. At AVANZAR, we understand the importance of addressing these issues with care, compassion, and empowerment. That's why our programs and services are designed to provide support, spread awareness, and empower individuals to break free from cycles of negativity. Whether it's counseling for emotional well-being, navigating through domestic violence, or addressing the challenges of human trafficking, our comprehensive approach focuses on individual needs, prevention, community intervention, crisis response, and assistance for those affected. We believe in the strength and resilience of every individual and invite you to join us in our mission to create a safer, more compassionate community.

Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Programs: We are committed to keeping sexual assault or domestic violence survivors safe, ensuring they have a brighter future. Our services for people affected by these forms of abuse include a 24-hour hotline, emergency housing at a confidential location, counseling, legal advocacy, and more.

Human Trafficking Program: Everyone deserves to live freely and without fear. Dream Free, AVANZAR’s human trafficking program, helps those who are affected by human trafficking and cannot readily advocate for themselves (ages 21 and under) throughout New Jersey. We’re here for them every step of the way, from initial crisis response to ensuring they’re thriving independently.

Fatherhood Services: Our Fatherhood Services serve as a batterer's intervention program aimed at providing education and support. It focuses on addressing and preventing abusive and controlling behavior among individuals who have caused harm in their intimate partner relationships. The program's overarching goals are to promote healthy relationships and break the cycle of abuse.

Social Justice: New Jersey is one of the most diverse US states, and as an organization and in our communities, our differences increase our perspectives. AVANZAR’s social justice-focused services include customized anti-discrimination training for government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and other groups, as well as a theatrical production entitled “Things I Remember” designed to engage audiences and spark open dialogue on racism.

Displaced Homemaker Programs: The loss of a partner has immediate and long lasting economic and emotional effects. Part of AVANZAR’s mission is supporting individuals going through trauma or displacement to maintain and develop financial stability. Individuals who are non-working or under-employed partners, as well as stay-at-home parents, may need to resume work or increase their earning potential for any number of reasons, such as displacement due to domestic violence, divorce, or the death or disability of a spouse. We assist adults who are seeking to identify and/or return to a career through an array of programs, including job development, career training, interview practice, and more.

PALS: At AVANZAR, we work to make sure no child in our communities has to go through this form of trauma alone. Peace: A Learned Solution (PALS) is AVANZAR’s program providing therapeutic services to children who have witnessed or experienced abuse or domestic violence, aimed at building emotional control and self-care skills utilizing a unique blend of creative arts therapies. PALS is part of a statewide network of similar programs and helps those aged 3 to 17 as well as parents or guardians who have also been affected by domestic violence.

Grow NJ Kids: Grow New Jersey Kids (GNJK) is a state-sponsored initiative to raise the quality of child care and early learning throughout New Jersey. GNJK gives child care and early learning programs resources to assess and improve their programs, while providing parents with information that allows them to evaluate the quality of programs and make the best choices for their child.
